Inverness coastguard rescue team is often the busiest team within the Aberdeen MRCC district. There is currently 13 members in the team who live and work, in and around the city of Inverness. The team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 day’s a year and responds to an average of 60 incidents per year.

The team is trained in three aspects of Coastguard Rescue Service operations;

  • Coastal Search
  • Rope Rescue
  • Flood Rescue

The team members are;

Andy Sutherland – Station Officer-Joined in August 1988 Andy is a selfemployed Joiner/Plumber.

Willie Wilson – Deputy Station Officer

Joined in September 1974 Willie is a sales assistant at Caley Marine

Martin McWhirr – Coastguard Rescue Officer-Joined in August 1988 Martin is an engineer on a small Charter ship operating on the west coast of Scotland.

Alan Hogan – Coastguard Rescue Officer-Joined in June 1997 Alan is sales manager at Caley Marine

Andy Brown – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in August 2000 Andy is a senior Inspector with the SSPCA.

Frank Steven – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in august 1999 Frank is a Vehicle technician.

Neil Birnie – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in Setember 2000 Neil Delivers for a timber merchant.

Steven Gorman – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in October 2001.  Steven works for the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Andrew Brown – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in May 2004 Andrew works for the Hydro as a cable jointer.

Kevin Brown – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in May 2004 Kevin Works at the local leisure centre

Lucas Chapman – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined in February 2002 Lucas works for Highlands and Islands Enterprise

David Scovell – Coastguard Rescue Officer-joined-joined in February 2008 David works for British Water ways on the Caledonian Canal

    LOL….Is that the best photo of me you could find?? It must have been taken on one of the long radio shifts at Rock Ness….I must have inadvertantly nodded off!!!
